I'm a new client looking to engage in Smiley Days services, what do I need to begin?
New patients can book in for initial consultations by contacting the clinic via phone, email or our contact form.
Do I need a Mental Health Care Plan referral before booking an appointment?
No, patients do not require a Mental Health Care Plan to book an appointment. However, in order to claim your rebate you will need it at the time of the appointment.
What happens in the initial session?
In this session a comprehensive developmental history will be discussed as well as any goals for the individuals time in therapy. If the client is under 18 years of age, your psychologist will spend time with the caregiver to discuss any concerns and challenges of the child and provide additional context.
How long will the session go for?
Each appointment is 50 minutes in length.
Is there a cancellation policy?
Yes, we have a 25 hour cancellation policy at Smiley Days. If patients cancel within this timeframe there will be a cancellation fee. Please note cancellation and non-attendance fees are not claimable.
What happens if I need to see my therapist urgently but they are fully booked?
We have a waitlist for each therapist that patients can be added to if they wish to have a sooner appointment time. Please note that we are not a crisis centre and therefore encourage you to consult with your GP if you need to access urgent support. You can access a list of crisis and support numbers here.
Does Smiley Days take on NDIS clients?
At Smiley Days we can take on any self managed or plan managed NDIS clientele. However we are not registered to take on NDIS managed plans. If you require further information about this please give us a call.
What are the current wait times at Smiley Days?
Wait times are dependent on the individual therapist, however Smiley Days offers group sessions that are designed to build skills and gain support as an interim solution to those seeking therapy. These run every 6 weeks dependant on the group type, for further information please call our reception team.
